Ricarda Roggan - Garage

In the lecture today, Steffi introduced us to Ricarda Roggan, who made a series called garage, they are images of damaged cars photographed in a black room and lighten by a harsh lamplight, almost as if there sitting lonely under a street light outside in the cold & damp. Iv'e always had an infatuation for cars, and any car enthusiast when see'ing a car they love being un-used and left to rot is a sad sight, many of us will knock on that persons door and ask if the car is for sale, in many cases its not as it obviously means a great deal to that person, I know these images are some what meant to represent a person, but I think it doubles back on the person and brings out emotions to see something go to waste that could be restored into something beautiful again, the tar paulin represents death, and the smashed lights look like downcast eyes, they show isolation and abandonment, these cars will not return to the road.
