I chose an image taken by Barry Lategan, A very beautiful image of Twiggy, one of the biggest iconic figures to appear in the 60's putting a kick into the mod scene.
I whached a small video made by the Guardian called ' my best shot ' on Barry Lategan, Link below -

He speaks about how twiggy was very much working class, and that she wanted to show in the photograph who she really was. Barry asked her to be herself & this was
how she responded to that, to me there is absolutely no attempt to make an impression, its a very static & unposed look, but the way her lashes are painted on and
the pure size of her eyes creates so much intimacy, it is a very eye catching photograph and when you lock on to her eyes its very difficult to come way.
Barry was inspired by renaissance and impressionist who positioned there models is very static poses, the flash has been directed from the left but not so much to cast a large shadow, its just allowing a slight cast to the right of her face & under her neck allowing for little distractions from her facial features, the contrasts of blacks are so nicely cast between her & the backdrop and her choice of clothing & hair style tells you straight away around the time it was taken, Very affective image.
