Critical Appraisal - Urban Landscape

For my Urban landscape project, I wanted to make works on something different, I find cities to be very over whelming places stuck with vast buildings & so much movment. So I tried to set myself in another frame, after see'ing works from photographers such as Richard Wentworth & Harry watts, my eyes started getting drawn to unmonumental moments.

To most people they aren't seen as something interesting or special, but people who see things different in the world appreciate these moments as sculptures made unknowingly by us which can be anything from piled up rocks in a corner to a pile of fruit sitting on the path.

There is always a story behind how it became what it is, and it plays on peoples minds. so I made a series of 3 images of subjects that I like to think I was the only person who took interest in & appreciated it for what it was & no longer is.

I didn't really feel like my project was about the photographs in the end, but more about trying to make people on there everyday journeys to pay more attention to there surroundings & appreciate every part of it.

Reflecting on the final outcome of the project, im much happier with my research & where it got me, but slightly annoyed with myself that the final images are photographed on different film types & formats, i felt so strongly about the images of the fruit that i had to print it but didn't want to shoot the rest of 35mm due to medium format being preffered, so the images are cropped to match size of the fruit so not to confuse the images as a set.
